The Dew Drop Inn

1960 - 1965 / Downtown Lorain

A photograph of the Dew Drop Inn from the early to mid-1960s.

The Dew Drop Inn was located at 216 West Erie Avenue in the location previously occupied by Helen's Diner. The first Polk City Directory (Lorain) listing for the Dew Drop Inn is in the 1961 edition. Mrs. Violet C. Hummell is listed as the manager.

The photograph is likely from the early 1960s, as the business owners filed for bankruptcy in 1965. Newspaper stories published in the Lorain Journal indicate that the Dew Drop Inn was out of business by the late 1960s. The building was demolished sometime after 1971.

The photographer is unknown. Writing on the back of the photograph (not scanned) is "Buildings in NW Corner - Broadway & W. Erie." The signature line below is "Hank B".
