The Metzger and Robinson department store was located in the Duane Block building at what was then 238 Broadway Avenue, Lorain, Ohio in 1909. The Metzger and Robinson department store was in business in downtown Lorain from 1906 to 1926.

The Bretz Book and Music store was located in the other first floor storefront in the Duane Block building. The store is located in the storefront with the sign "Geo. P. Bretz." This store was in business on Broadway Avenue from the early 1900s until at least 1940.

The date "1909" is written on the photograph. "Duane Block, Lorain, O." is printed vertically on the right side of the photograph, along with the statement "Published by H.W. Vegh". The photographer is unknown.
