Cars driving eastbound on the newly opened Erie Avenue Swing Bridge in July 1936. Bascule bridges are moveable bridges with a leaf that swings upward to allow for boat traffic. This bridge was later renamed the Charles Berry Bascule Bridge in honor of Congressional Medal of Honor winner Charles Berry, a native of Lorain. Photographer unknown.
